Coming back home (Banda Aceh) on Chinese New Year holidays was so fun. Meeting families and friends were amazing too. But the other reason we missed before we started the holiday was the FOOD. I even made a list about the food we should try. So, this time I'm gonna tell some culinary in Banda Aceh for you to try.
This warung bakso has been existing since 1980. I remember when I was a kid and everytime I passed by this place, I could see lots of people eating there. The taste of the meatball is really good. Even the soup smells good and of course delicious.

If you'd like to have a snack during tea time, you should come to this place. Located in a shop house, you could order egg waffle with your favourite flavour or order a glass of refreshing drink. You can also order a bowl of Soto and other food they offer.

This noodle house has been being a legend since 1967. This is not a regular noodle house, it offers Acehnese noodle so your taste buds will experience the local taste from one of a-must-try food in Indonesia. You can add beef or seafood or even crab for your noodle. You will be served with a small piece of lime, onion pickles and kerupuk emping. You won't be disappointed with the taste, because the taste is really heavenly good.

This was my first time coming here, the place is easy to be found because it's located nearby the street. I ordered Nasi Uduk and Ayam Bakar and they were surprisingly delicious. The chili is quite spicy but I loved it.

Banda Aceh has a lot of legendary food. Mie Kocok Ramai is one of them. The menu in the restaurant are just the noodle and meatballs. Just order a plate of mie kocok, you will be given Perkedel Kentang as complimentary food. The taste of the mie kocok? Delicious!

I've been knowing this meatball since I was still in kindergarten because it was opened at my ex-school. After years, they finally open at this place. Along with juice bar, you can see this place at the corner. The taste has changed (still delicious) but it's like a routinity for me to have a bite when I come back home. You may ask Bakso Tenis (a large meatball with egg inside, my favorite) or Bakso Daging (a large meatball with minced meat inside). Don't forget to add chili. Yummy!

This is like another meatball but the different is that this one has the real taste of beef. You may order a bowl of meatballs, or ask for fried noodle or soupy noodle for your own favourite. Not full enough? Ask a plate of rice. If you don't eat beef, they have fish balls as well. Bitter guard soup is also available for those of you who wants to eat healthy.

This place is just beside the Bakso Asean. This beverage is so refreshing. You may add TAPE if you'd love it. I think this is best Es Campur I've ever had. You won't regret every single drop of it.

I actually didn't know this place until I saw some of my friends posted some of the food from the cafe. So on that rainy afternoon, our friends came by and drove us here. It's actually a small cafe but I could see lots of people spending their time here. Well, we ordered some drinks and plates of kue cubit. Well place yet recommended as this place is quite new in the town.

Gunung Salju Chicken Steak and Ice Cream
This restaurant serves the famous Chicken Steak with noodle. It is always fully crowded during lunch time and dinner time. Make sure you come here before the hunger sends signal to your brain so you will get your seat before others. Yes, you have to wait to eat! Aside from the Chicken Steak and noodle, this place is also famous for the legendary ice cream. Especially the avocado juice with ice cream topping. Don't forget to order it when you have a chance to come here.

Banda Aceh has some beautiful beaches too. If Banda Aceh is on your vacation list, don't forget to leave your footprint (and let the wave wash them away) on the beaches here. Lampuuk Beach, Lhoknga Beach or Ulele are some famous beaches here. My favourite beach is Lampuuk Beach. When you arrive in Lampuuk Beach, you are welcomed by a lot of huts which are actually small warungs. You can order coconut drink, cokes, roasted fish and instant noodles. All the huts offer the same menu. But the instant noodle is the exception. I can have a bowl at home but having a bowl of instant noodle at the beach is just different. I mean the flavours. I tried two from two different huts. As long it's spicy, it's really good for me.
