Short Trip to Jakarta and Bandung (part 2)

After I realized that we're going to Bandung, I was so thrilled. I smiled during the journey. And the stomach alarm had rung, even though we had a lot of food for breakfast (check out my breakfast story here). We were very lucky that day because it's not so jammed in Bandung, because it's always jammed on weekend.

Our friend suggested us to have a lunch at Pandan Wangi Restaurant which served Sundanese food. The restaurant was very crowded due to lunch time. Luckily, we got our seats. We ordered Ayam Ungkep, Terong Raos and two sets of Nasi Timbel Komplit (there are a plate of rice, fried chicken, fried tempe, fried tofu, jambal, vegetables salad, a bowl of chili and a bowl of sayur asem). We didn't wait for a long time and the meal finally came.

The nasi timbel taste was not as good as I thought. The sayur asem as well. It was served cold which made it not so nice to be eaten with rice. But Sundanese always served Sayur Asem coldly. The fried chicken was not bad though. But the star of the table is the Terong Raos. Oh my, I feel like I could taste it in my mouth whilst I am typing this story. It was really oily, and it was really crunchy yet sweet. It's like the umami taste. I couldn't stop being amazed while I ate this dish.

After having lunch, my friend also told us about the famous local food named Lotek. It looks like vegetables salad with peanut sauce on top. Just like Gado-gado (Betawi traditional food). I said YES to another food. So the famous Lotek restaurant's name is Lotek Kalipah Apo. The location is not too far the restaurant, only 10 minutes. It's not so hard to find this restaurant. Because it's also a legendary one. Unfortunately, there is no parking land for cars, so we had to park at the opposite of the restaurant.

It looked like the usual stores in Indonesia, but when we came inside, we almost didn't get any seats. It was super crowded. When you ordered the food, you got to go to the serving corner and pick what you like. My husband ordered a bowl of es campur. My friend ordered the Lotek. He also requested for kerupuk instead of rice.

The taste of the lotek is really good. Compared to Gado-gado, Lotek has its signature like I couldn't tell. The smell is really good though. One of our friends who doesn't consume vegetables also likes to eat this one.

The journey continues to Lembang. Lembang is another city in West Java and it only took an hour from Bandung. Our first stop in Lembang is Sapu Lidi Cafe, Resort and Gallery. We didn't go there to have lunch again. But we went there to buy local snacks. The view from this resort is really nice as if you are in the rice field.

Kampung Daun Restaurant is our next destination. The location is really not too far from Sapu Lidi. And this place takes a unique concept with use traditional huts for visitors to enjoy their food. We got the upper hut so we got to climb the stairs before reaching our place. Unfortunately, I was too excited to see around and forgot to take some pictures.

Time flew really fast and we tend to go to Rumah Stroberi to have a glass of fresh strawberries and some batagor. The place was really nice and the cold weather welcomed us when we arrived. We were so excited and ordered without seeing menu. Sadly, they had no more fresh strawberries and batagor. A bit disappointed though, so we planned to go back to Bandung to shop local snacks.

Kartika Sari was our next stop. Kartika Sari is famous for its delicious brownies and other cakes. For those of you who had ever travelled to Jakarta or Bandung, I bet you recognise this brand. The place is really huge, like a supermarket. Whilst waiting for our friends, me and my husband went to the shop and started to hunt what cake we should bring home. I took molen (pastry with banana, chocolate and cheese inside), my husband took black glutinous rice and baked brownies.

Kwetiau Siram

It was 6.30 pm until we decided to go back to Jakarta and had dinner there. We tend to order batagor but unfortunately, they were out of stock. During our journey back to Jakarta, we talked a lot with our friends and we didn't realize we finally arrived. Our stomach were in roar so we ate our dinner at the place nearby our friends' house. It's called Ai Medan. I ordered Kwetiau Siram with seafood. I was so amazed with this aunty. She works alone, from preparation and cooking. We had counts of people here but she's able to do her job. Salute!

After our late dinner which happened at 10 pm, we met up with other friends at our friend's house. We were so blessed because they wanted to spend their time to meet my husband and I. We were awake until 2.30 am and before we went to sleep, we planned about what to eat tomorrow.
